Passpaw Browser Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated June 1, 2026
Introduction
This Browser Extension Privacy Policy ("Extension Privacy Policy") describes how Passpaw LLC ("Passpaw," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you install and use the Passpaw browser extension (the "Extension"). This Extension Privacy Policy supplements—and should be read together with—our main Privacy Policy and our Browser Extension Terms of Use. In the event of any conflict between this Extension Privacy Policy and the main Privacy Policy with respect to the Extension specifically, this Extension Privacy Policy controls.
By installing or using the Extension, you consent to the data practices described in this Extension Privacy Policy.
1. What the Extension Does
The Extension is a user-initiated assistive tool that helps veterinary practices and authorized users prepare and enter pet travel information into third-party platforms, primarily the USDA Veterinary Export Health Certification System ("VEHCS") and Login.gov (together, "Third-Party Systems"). The Extension does not independently submit, certify, or transmit information on behalf of the user. All submissions to Third-Party Systems are made by the user, while logged into the user's own account.
2. Information We Collect Through the Extension
We have designed the Extension to minimize data collection. The Extension may access or process the following categories of information:
2.1 Information You Provide Through the Passpaw Platform
When you use the Extension to autofill forms in a Third-Party System, the Extension reads pet, owner, and travel information that you (or your veterinary practice) have already entered into your Passpaw account. This may include:
Pet name, species, breed, age, sex, color, and microchip number;
Pet owner name, address, phone number, and email address;
Flight or travel details (origin, destination, dates);
Vaccination, parasite-treatment, and other health-related entries provided by the practice;
Destination country and applicable certificate type.
2.2 Information About Your Interaction with the Extension
We may collect limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Extension, such as:
Extension version and configuration;
The Passpaw account associated with the Extension session (for authentication);
Error logs and diagnostic data when the Extension encounters a problem;
The Third-Party System pages on which the Extension is invoked (e.g., a VEHCS form URL), but not your activity on unrelated websites.
2.3 Information We Do Not Collect Through the Extension
The Extension is not designed to collect, and we do not knowingly collect through the Extension:
Your browsing history outside of VEHCS, Login.gov, and Passpaw domains;
Keystrokes outside the Extension's user interface;
Passwords, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, or other financial or identity-credential information;
Content on websites unrelated to the Extension's stated purpose;
Information from incognito or private browsing sessions (unless you have specifically permitted the Extension to operate in those modes).
3. Browser Permissions
To function, the Extension requests certain browser permissions. We request only the permissions necessary for the Extension's stated purpose. These typically include:
Host permissions for VEHCS, Login.gov, and Passpaw domains: to read and fill form fields and to communicate with Passpaw servers;
Storage: to save user preferences and session state locally in your browser;
ActiveTab / Scripting: to inject form-fill functionality only when you actively invoke the Extension on a supported page.
We do not request broader permissions (such as access to all websites or full browsing history) beyond what is necessary for the Extension's function.
4. How We Use Information
We use information accessed by the Extension solely to:
Provide the Extension's user-facing functionality (autofilling forms, syncing data between your Passpaw account and supported Third-Party Systems);
Authenticate your Passpaw account session;
Diagnose, debug, and improve the Extension;
Maintain the security and integrity of the Extension and the Services;
Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
Limited Use Disclosure (Chrome Web Store): Our use of information received from the Extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not:
Transfer user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features of the Extension, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with adequate user notice;
Use or transfer user data for serving advertisements, including personalized or retargeted advertisements;
Use or transfer user data to determine credit-worthiness or for lending purposes;
Allow humans to read user data unless (a) we obtain your affirmative consent, (b) it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), (c) it is necessary to comply with applicable law, or (d) the data is aggregated and used for internal operations in a manner that does not identify any individual.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent information collected through the Extension. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service providers: With third-party vendors (such as cloud hosting, authentication, and error-monitoring providers) who process information on our behalf under written agreements that restrict their use of the information to providing services to us;
Third-Party Systems: When you use the Extension to enter information into VEHCS, Login.gov, or another Third-Party System, that information is transmitted to the Third-Party System by you, through your logged-in session. Once submitted, the Third-Party System's own privacy practices govern that data;
Legal compliance: When required by law, subpoena, court order, or other lawful process;
Protection of rights: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Passpaw, our users, or others, including to investigate fraud or abuse;
Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or a portion of our business, with appropriate notice.
6. Data Retention
Information processed by the Extension is retained only as long as necessary to provide the Services or as required by law. Locally stored Extension data (such as user preferences) remains on your device until you uninstall the Extension or clear your browser data. Pet, owner, and travel data associated with your Passpaw account is retained according to the retention practices described in our main Privacy Policy.
You may uninstall the Extension at any time through your browser's extension management settings. Uninstalling the Extension removes locally stored Extension data from your device but does not, by itself, delete data associated with your Passpaw account on our servers.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information accessed by the Extension. However, no electronic transmission or storage method is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Extension at your own risk. You are responsible for safeguarding your Passpaw login credentials and your credentials for any Third-Party System.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, please refer to our main Privacy Policy or contact us at privacy@passpaw.com.
You can also:
Disable or uninstall the Extension at any time through your browser settings;
Revoke permissions granted to the Extension through your browser's extension management interface;
Stop using the Extension without affecting your ability to use other Passpaw Services.
9. California Residents
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including rights to know, delete, correct, and limit the use of certain personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information collected through the Extension as those terms are defined under California law. For more information about your California privacy rights and how to exercise them, see our main Privacy Policy.
10. Children
The Extension is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect information from, children under 18 years of age. If you believe a child has used the Extension, please contact us at privacy@passpaw.com so we can take appropriate action.
11. International Users
The Extension is operated from the United States. If you use the Extension from outside the United States, you understand that information accessed by the Extension may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Extension, you consent to such transfer and processing.
12. Changes to This Extension Privacy Policy
We may update this Extension Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a revised "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the Extension, by email, or by posting a prominent notice on our Site. Your continued use of the Extension after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Extension Privacy Policy.
